Our Mission

The idea of Westech and serving the community to fulfill environmental needs first began in the mid-1970s. The Federal Government had recently begun focusing on long term environmental health and impacts caused by urban and commercial development, and passed several forms of legislation that became the foundation of our regulatory framework today.

While this was happening, Dr. G. Bradford Shea was attending the University of Maryland and had completed his Masters Degree in Physics and Mathematics. Upon hearing of this revolution in environmental regulation and feeling a calling to explore this new career path, he decided to shift his focus and completed his PhD in Ecology in 1975. One year later, he moved across the country to Bothell, Washington, and opened up the first iteration of Westech Company.

Over the next 40+ years, Dr. Shea built Westech from a one person shop, working on a few small projects, to a successful consulting firm that has advised and assisted thousands of clients across Western Washington, Oregon, and California. Westech has always strived to develop trust and understanding between our clients and the agencies we work with.

Dr. Shea’s son, Trevor, began working with him in the field delineating wetlands when he was 7 years old. Over the next 25 years, he has honed his skills and credentials and is now a certified wetland delineator, with expertise in biological and ecological systems in the Pacific Northwest. In 2021, he took over management of the company. He has been focused on growing into new markets and working with many new agencies.
